How to Use a Longboard?
Longboarding is an enjoyable activity for many people. Whether it's just for fun, the Longboard has many styles.
If you're new to the longboard, it can seem daunting at first. Don't panic. Carving is very easy to learn, and you can quickly master this area. For now, you need to learn the basics. That's exactly what we're here for. As you have finished reading, here are the basic things to get you started doing Longboarding right now…
Longboard's Simplest Style
Getting started with longboarding starts with the first step. There are many Longboard riding styles. Still, what you need is simple styles like cruising. It's just a matter of pushing the Longboard with one foot and standing over the Longboard with the other. This is also the first step in learning other difficult styles. Once you complete the simple style, you can try carving that you will go back and forth while sliding. When you think you are good enough, you can try dance or freestyle.
Goofy or Regular? What is your stance?
Determining your guide leg is important for the Longboard. Of course, you don't want to feel uncomfortable while driving. Incorrect posture can cause accidents. Therefore, we recommend that you only slide with your guide foot. There are two types of posture styles on the longboard. Goofy or Regular. In the regular stance, the left foot is in the front, your right foot is behind and the push is done with the right foot. In the goofy stance, it is the opposite, with the right foot in front, the left foot in the back, and the push with the left foot. In the regular stance, the face is turned to the right, and in the goofy stance, the face is turned to the left. Choose whichever is more comfortable for you.
How is the longboard pushed?
To start sliding, you have to push. At this point, you have to put one foot on the ground and start pushing to push the board forward. There are two ways of pushing your board. Normal thrust is the thrust you make with your back foot. There is also a mongo style that you push with your front foot. For this style, you need to rotate your body to get it in the correct riding position. Normal thrust is therefore better for correct use.
When talking about propulsion techniques, first make sure your board is in good condition and the protection equipment is used correctly. Then put your front foot on the board and your back foot on the ground. Keeping your body weight above the center of the board, move forward by pushing yourself with your foot on the ground. It would be better to hold your front foot at a 45 degree angle and your back foot at a 90 degree angle.
Always keep your head up and look ahead. This way you prevent accidents and keep your balance. Also, you keep one leg on the board. For this reason, it is very important to study balance. Practice riding with one foot in the air. Then try the same on the stationary board. And finally, practice your balance by trying the same on your board in motion. Once you've done all this, you can slowly increase your speed.
Rotation and Carving on Longboard
Have you handled the hustle numbers? Turns and carving will be your next step. Again, your body position is also important here. Keep your front foot at a 45-degree angle, your back foot at a 90-degree angle, and your body weight in the center of the board, as when pushing yourself. Here you need to put more weight on your front foot. Let's find a safe stance to avoid speed tremors as we go downhill.
Now, to make a turn, put your weight in the opposite direction. While giving weight to your toes, you can open and close your chest with shoulder movements. For a simple start, look with your head in the direction of your rotation and let your body follow your head.
Carving will be useful for slowing down when going very fast. What you need is a deep turn to the left and the same to the right behind it. Continue these movements to form an S shape. Once you start moving more comfortably, you can start carving at higher speeds.
How tostop the longboard
Stopping is an important skill you should learn. The simplest stopping style is the foot brake. When braking, you create friction by taking your back foot off the board and placing it on the ground. This friction reduces your speed and eventually allows you to stop. Be gentle at first, then try to stop at high speeds. After learning the main stop, you can learn to stop by carving. With Carving, you don't need to take your foot off the board and change your body position. To stop with carving, you have to do deep carves.
Do not let go of your safety while driving!
No matter how well you fall off your longboard, it doesn't matter. Drivers can fall down at any time, so it is very important to protect your head with all protective equipment.
First, make sure all parts of your Longboard are intact. Then find a good helmet. Take off your headphones so you know what's going on around you. If you can't do without music, use a speakerphone or your phone for it. Knee and elbow pads are a must, and if you plan to slide, you can also buy slide elbow
Safe fall methods are skills that need to be learned. When you fall, learn how to roll. If you feel like you will fall, your wrists and knees will help. If you are driving on the road, it is important that you follow traffic rules as well. I suggest you use the safety lane or bike path. Try not to drive in the opposite direction of traffic.
You may not be driving at night, but if you want to go for night riding, you can use a good led lamp for your helmet. Also, don't forget to follow all traffic signs, lights and signs.
